Hamlet and Phoebe's Story
Hi everyone! My name is Hamlet and I’m a rescue puppy! Well, I’m part rescue puppy anyway! You see, my doggy parents were rescues and my sisters and I were born at our foster parents’ house in Shreveport, Louisiana.
I am so happy my parents were rescued because we would have been born in a puppymill and they would still be there. I hear those puppymills are horrible ... grrrrrr But thanks to rescue I was born in a clean happy place and my Mom and Dad were adopted by a loving family too!
Anyway, when I was born, my foster mom’s daughter fell in love with me (how could she resist such a cute little guy?!) and when I was big enough, I moved to Dallas to live with her. Boy, were we happy!! We played and cuddled and did all the stuff that puppies love to do!
Okay, enough about me, let’s get to the good part! Even though we were very happy, my mom thought that since I was such a playful, lovable, and exceptionally sociable guy, that I needed a friend! Then, one glorious day, my grandma called from Louisiana and said that a friend of hers with Missouri Westie Rescue had the perfect rescue puppy for us! She even sent us pictures! When my mom and I saw those pictures and heard how sweet and playful she was, we knew right then and there that this puppy was meant to be my new sister!!
The only problem was that she was so far away and my mom was in the middle of her midterm exams. Thankfully, I have the best grandma in the whole world! She drove all the way to Illinois to pick up my new sister for us!
Now for the really good part! When my new sister, Phoebe, walked through our door, it was love at first sight! Mom says that Phoebe has black fur because she’s half Westie and half Scottie. Well, I don’t really know what that means, but I do know that she’s the cutest puppy I’ve ever seen!! She’s not just a pretty face though! She’s the best friend a guy could have! We play and play! Sometimes Mom calls us partners-in-crime because we like to get into all kinds of stuff we’re not supposed to! One of our favorite pastimes is running around the house as fast as we can! Mom says it’s called “zooming” and that lots of Westies like to do it. Whatever it’s called, it sure is fun! Mom loves to watch us play (she says it’s because we’re so funny, but I think it’s because we’re so darn cute!)!
The best part is that, when we’re sleepy from all of the playing that we do, we get to cuddle up on the couch with our mom and watch TV (we really like Animal Planet)! She really likes cuddling with us because we’re so warm and fuzzy! Sometimes she complains because we lick her face, but we know that she really likes it because it means we love her! Well, I have to go play now! I just wanted to say thank you to all of the people who helped to bring our little family together! Every day is filled with fun, adventure, and, most importantly, love! Man, life is good!!!
