Roxie & Dexter's Adventures - Volume 1

Dexter Reporting

Part One-

Mommy and Daddy came to pick us up in Indiana… the only state we had ever known as home.  Our friend’s at the foster home were jealous and jumped in Mommy and Daddy’s car as well.  After our days at the foster home with our little Westie friends we were off on an adventure to Georgia.

Roxie slept most of the way but mommy and daddy stopped to let us out and “do our business” in each state on our travels south.  Daddy rested his eyes for a while and mommy continued driving south, so I finally gave in and slept for a portion of the travel.  We stopped for a visit in rest areas along the route, we saw Indiana for the last time, and we stopped in Kentucky and Tennessee.  Finally, our last stop was Georgia, great weather, and southern hospitality.

Mommy and Daddy slept on the couches with us the first night… they think we are little babies.  So we snuggled up next to them and cuddled all night.

Part Two-

Our first full day at our new home was wonderful.  We took a long walk in the mountain bike park and along the Big Creek greenway.  There are tons of critters to chase along the trail and we try to get them.  They are no match for my sister and I, squirrels and bunnies beware.   On one of our daily walks through the greenway we even saw a Doe (a deer, a female deer).   We love to chase critters and will hunt down any intruders into the yard.  We both took a bath in the tub, waiting patiently for our time in the suds - we love it.

Next was a trip to the pet store… new toys, yeah!!  Roxie found a great toy, a furry duck, she has been loving and kind of hers.  On the other hand the squeaker (which sounded like a duck) sent me into a frenzy, it was all I could do to contain myself.  My terrier breeding made me attack it.  Mom and Dad had not paid for the duck yet and I had removed the squeaker and a significant amount of the stuffing within minutes.  Add fuzzy toys to the beware list.

Part Three-

Mommy comes home to eat lunch with us and play in the backyard, the woods contain all sorts of wildlife to chase, good thing there is a sturdy fence to keep us in.  Roxie sits and enjoys the Georgia sun lying out on the deck, as I beg mom to throw the ball.  Mom and Dad take us for walks in a variety of parks in North Atlanta everyday.  We rotate our walks between mountain bike parks, greenways, river walks and can’t wait until they finish construction of the new bike paths and walking trails off of the subdivision we live in.  We love the car ride almost as much as the walk itself.  I have figured out how to roll the car window down and love to stick my head out and feel the breeze in my face. Roxie is the leader on the trails, I keep trying to catch her but she insists on being the front-runner.  She is the natural born hunter of the two of us as well, she points at sounds in the bushes and I follow her to find out what is making all of that racket.  Usually a bunny or a squirrel, but we can’t get to them in time.

We have taken to our new mommy and daddy as well as the new house we call home.  We cuddle with mommy in the morning before she gets ready for work; I have to have my lap time in the morning.  Then we run around with daddy in the back yard and chase any intruders into our yard. Our new parents haven’t figured it out yet, but we are definitely in control.
